A few weeks ago my dad showed me the street he grew up on in alexandria, egypt … it was without a doubt one of the most emotional moments of my life. When you’re the daughter of an immigrant, most of your life is spent wishing and longing to connect with your roots. To see where you come from and to finally put an image to all the stories you’ve heard. To go back home.

After years of imagining what it would be like to visit with him, it was even more extraordinary than I could have ever imagined. To see how hard he’s worked, how far he’s come, how much he’s sacrificed to achieve his dreams so that I could achieve mine … it had me in absolute awe. He is so proud of where he comes from. I’m so proud of where he comes from.

Happy Father’s Day every day, Baba. Thank you for your sacrifice, your hustle, your drive, and your love. I’m so lucky to have you 🩵
