It includes information on Election Year Activity (EYA) restrictions; how Washington is responding to the SCOTUS latest decision to weaken voting rights; and the digital version of my 2026 session report that was mailed to household in the 29th District last month.

My bill to establish a voting rights “preclearance” process has been signed into law! This measure creates a state-level process to prevent discriminatory election changes before they take effect.

Given the SCOTUS decision last week, this bill is more important than ever. As Chair of the House State Government and Tribal Relations Committee, I am proud to add, we advanced an additional five bills to collectively strengthen voting rights and to protect election integrity in Washington state. I know there are folks in our community – and many people across the state – who remain fearful and deeply concerned about the escalating tensions we’ve seen with immigration enforcement over the last year. That’s why I want to share this resource from the Washington State Attorney General. No matter your status, it’s important we are all aware of our rights should we encounter civil immigration enforcement at some point in Washington state.

Also: If you or a loved one is confronted by ICE, or witnesses suspected ICE activity, you can call the statewide rapid-response phone number 1-844-724-3737 to report the encounter. This hotline is operated by the Washington Immigrant Solidarity Network. It was created in 2017 and has received state funding since 2020.
