But apparently asking him to look professional for one photo is where he draws the line.
Today, on Memorial Day 2026, Pax K9 remembers and honors Sgt. Joshua Ashley — a Marine, a K9 handler, and a brother whose sacrifice will never be forgotten.
Some men leave behind stories.
Others leave behind a standard.
Joshua Ashley stood the watch beside his military working dog and his fellow Marines with courage, loyalty, and honor. Today we remember not only the warrior, but the bond, the service, and the sacrifice that came with wearing the leash and the uniform.

The goal isn’t just obedience.
The goal is connection.
When the handler leads clearly and the dog trusts completely,
they stop working next to each other
and start working as one team.
That’s the standard at Pax K9.
Don’t run from training.
Growth happens when things get uncomfortable. Dogs need structure, leadership, and consistency to become their best.

We were at .k9.us this week learning new skills, and perfecting others. Training never stops. No matter where you go or who you’re training with, you can always learn something from others.
