Dan McFarland, Senior Chief Operating Engineer at EMCOR Government Services (EGS) and instructor with the Join Apprenticeship Committee, recently had the opportunity to teach students from the International Union of Operating Engineers (IUOE) Local 99.
The students assembled at the National Archives and Records Administration (NARA) in College Park, MD, where Dan is responsible for operations and maintenance. They observed NARA's massive central utility plant to learn about boiler/chiller inspections, proper outage planning, and the watch/tour tasks of operating engineers.
EGS's client partners at NARA-Tim Edwards, Chief of NARA Facilities Management Branch; Abel Rio, NARA II Facility Manager; and Bill Santos, NARA General Engineer -have been champions for career development and helped make this event possible
