AFSC Immigrant Rights Program

The Supreme Court has cleared the way for the Trump administration to end Temporary Status for Haitians. There are about 330,000 Haitian TPS holders in the country, many thousands of whom live in NJ. Without immediate action, they will lose their work permits tomorrow and their TPS status on July 27. These are valued members of our society whose lives are at risk of being thrown into chaos. It would be a tragedy for all of us. But it doesn’t have to happen. There is a pending bill (S. 4814) that would extend Haitian TPS to 2029. & have committed to voting for the bill. But it’s still important to contact them about this. The more support they see from constituents, the harder they’re likely to push their undecided colleagues in senate.
