MindLeaps
Our journey continues with Asier Edeso, Basque choreographer and former dancer with Les Ballets de Monte-Carlo. Over the last week, Asier has continued to work with 16 MindLeaps students to create an original work for Ubumuntu Arts Festival. He's also learned more about the country through visiting the Kigali Genocide Memorial Museum and has spent time with our students and their mothers while visiting their homes in Nyamirambo.
Before this collaboration, Asier was working as the choreographer for Jersey Ballet and for the Education Department at Les Ballets de Monte-Carlo. Like MindLeaps, Asier believes in the power of movement to help people from all backgrounds discover their self-worth and shape a vision for themselves and their futures.
MindLeaps Centers started a new initiative this year: Monthly Talent Shows! At the end of every month, students (with teachers’ help) organize a variety show that features everything from dance to poetry to modeling and rapping! Community members and parents are invited to attend. Check out some highlights from MindLeaps Uganda’s talent show in April, and stay tuned for highlights from the May show still to come.
