Covering Shaykh Ibrāhīm al-Samannūdī’s Bahjat al-Luḥādh in Hafs narration with Imam Suhaib Webb.

📖 Night One (Fri Aug 22) — The science of transmission: qirāʾah, riwāyah, and tarīq. The chain from the Prophet ﷺ to Imām al-Muʿaddil. Rules 1–2: the basmala and the disconnected mudd.

📖 Night Two (Sat Aug 23) — Rules 3–11: sakt, ghunna, idghām, ishmām, and the words that distinguish this tarīq from al-Shāṭibī’s.

📖 Night Three (Sun Aug 24) — Rules 12–17, full comparative review, recitation practice, and two ijāza transmissions to close.

Al-Akhdari writes,

إِدْرَاكُ مُفْرَدٍ تَصَوُّرًا عُلِمْ ✦ وَدَرْكُ نِسْبَةٍ بِتَصْدِيقٍ وُسِمْ

“Apprehending a single concept is known as tasawwur — and affirming its relation (existence or not) is known as tasdiq.”

Engaging something without investing in the truth of its place and relation to the world is a type of ignorance.

Today, the brother in this picture, Qasim, took me to an ancient mosque complex. Built in the 9th century AH, this mosque sits at the top of a mountain, on a large field, and next to a nice café. Behind it is a balcony overlooking Tirana. Remarkable, especially after the destruction caused by communism in this land. In forty-eight years, around 2,000 mosques were destroyed, legions of scholars killed, and religious institutions wrecked. Communism sought to blight the light. It failed.

I asked him, as we walked in this mosque, "How did your family hold on to Islam under the communist scourge?" He said, "We worshiped quickly."

Allah grant us tawfīq and thabāt...
