Reentry works best when it starts long before someone leaves prison.
Last week, our colleague Jesse Kelley joined the National Governors Association's Criminal Justice Policy Advisors network to discuss how states are strengthening reentry planning through Reentry 2030.
The discussion highlighted practical strategies that help improve outcomes after incarceration, including:
• Coordinating services across agencies
• Expanding access to housing and health care
• Increasing employment and education opportunities
• Strengthening family and community connections
• Using data to measure progress and improve outcomes
Across the country, Reentry 2030 is helping state and local leaders work toward measurable goals that improve public safety, reduce recidivism, and support successful reentry.
