Friends for Kibera

There are new lockdowns in Nairobi due to COVID. The number of infections has skyrocketed and so gatherings are not allowed and nobody may enter or leave the city of Nairobi or surrounding counties. That means that food is more scarce and more expensive. It also means that the children cannot eat at the FOLKS Center. So they are allowing children to take food home in containers. Earlier today FOLKS was visited by a ministry group that brought clothing donations and did tutoring with the children

Yesterday was an exciting day. One of our most needy families were able to get the wonderfult surprise of a new bedframe, mattress, table, and stools. In addition their home now has electricity so that the three girls can do their schoolwork indoors. The previous mattress had gotten wet when the February rains came. I am so happy for these little girls and I know these little things are huge in building their confidence and self-esteem. Thank you so very very much to their sponsors and other people that made donations before my last trip to Kenya last week. Please know what a huge difference you are making for them!! There were many families that had their homes destroyed to build a new road, and others damaged by rain. But today was time for smiles and a yummy lunch.
