The Sending Smiles Project

The Sending Smiles Project has been busy in 2024! We finished our holiday card delivery and transitioned to support the Needham Housing Authority with a Valentine's Day project on February 14th.

We launched our first after school program on April 4th in partnership with Needham Community Education, creating cards after school with 7th and 8th graders at Pollard as part of their community service credit. We have 12 dedicated middle schoolers creating cards for year-round projects, and they are making almost 200 cards a week! We are so grateful for the community and the continued support. The Sending Smiles Project was created by Alexis Greenwald (NHS 2021 grad) in March 2020 as a community service project to reach Needham seniors in assisted living communities and sending a smile. When Alexis left for college at Indiana University, Jacob (currently an 11th grader at NHS) continued to lead the project in our community. Current partners include: Needham Housing Authority, Needham Community Council and the Needham Council on Aging. Happy Holidays! The Sending Smiles Project continues this holiday season and will be led by my brother, Jacob. I am away at Indiana University, but so glad my brother can continue to bring smiles to residents in area nursing homes and independent living centers. Jacob is a 10th grader at NHS, and he can pick up and deliver cards from you anytime between now and December 18th. Please send us a message and we will be in touch as soon as possible.
