🌊🐢 It’s Turtle Nesting Season — Here’s How You Can Help!
Sea turtle moms are returning to our beaches, and we need your help to keep them safe. Please take a moment to follow these simple dos and don’ts to protect our coastal wildlife:
✅ DO:
• Turn off or dim beachfront lights at night.
• Fill in any holes you dig in the sand before leaving.
• Knock down sandcastles so hatchlings don’t get trapped.
• Remove beach chairs, toys, and tents at the end of the day.
• Stay behind marked nests and respect all signage.
• Use red‑filtered flashlights if you must walk the beach at night.
• Give nesting turtles plenty of space—watch quietly from a distance.
❌ DON’T:
• Don’t use bright white flashlights or flash photography.
• Don’t approach, touch, or interfere with turtles or hatchlings.
• Don’t leave trash on the beach—debris can confuse or harm turtles.
• Don’t disturb marked nests or attempt to “help” hatchlings.
• Don’t leave personal items or obstacles in the turtle’s path.
Together, we can ensure every nest has the best chance of a safe and successful season. Thank you for doing your part!
