One good thing about fasting as we start the year is rebalancing. You see a deviation, no matter how small, it can be adjusted. I notice this when I pick up my guitar. I get the tuner out and several of the stings are off just a bit. So I TUNE it to A-440. It sounds so much better. Being human we may not purposely stray from standard pitch, but the rigors of life may cause vacillations. The nudge might make us budge. So let us tune up for the year!!

I have wondered about a number that have told me they would get the book but I don't know if they have. Today one told me on her own volition without me bringing it up. Congratulations and I will get the book. We talked about the process of writing for some time. This shows me that there is lag time with some before they buy and read the book. So cheer up Rick the word is being spread and people are still buying the book.

The specifics of a front end alignment are not usually understood by a layperson. However, we can know when our car is pulling to the right or left while we are trying to steer. As we fast we notice that there are adjustments that can be made in our spiritual alignment. So as the Holy Spirit leads, go ahead and make those adjustments. Just as we need maintenance on our autos, we need maintenance on our Christian lives. Blessings on your 2026!

I haven't posted on this page in a while. However, as I start this year of Jubilee with out annual fast, I want to pick up activity here and elsewhere. I greatly appreciate those of you that have purchased and read my book. If you can help me promote it, I would be grateful. I have no big author name, so I am using strategies that would help proliferate it for the benefit of all that read, including leaders. I have other works waiting in the wings. Keep me in your prayers!

I friend from California who I haven't seen in a long while just bought a book and said that maybe they could use the book in the future in their small group study. This idea has already been presented to me once before. Perhaps it would work for you and your small group. Eleven chapters could be eleven sessions/meetings.

Report: I have sold 126 books so far. PTL. Not too bad for a first time no name author. My short term goal is 1000. Nope not The NY Times Best Seller Top 25 for sure, but a good start on getting some notoriety!

After living and observing the Christian life up close and personal for decades, Rick Bowen saw a destructive enemy that invaded everyone's life. This tendency of overreacting, overcompensating, and overemphasizing any number of axioms skewed the results of multiplied efforts. It toppled the most sincere. It embarrassed and humiliated the most ardent pursuers of truth. Furthermore it tended to stain with stigmas the reputation of individual ambassadors of Christ. In some cases it caused the reputation of the long-term orthodox to be tainted with accusations of sectarianism, even pejoratively called 'a cult'! But most of the time it was what most thought a relatively minor hindrance.

Some of us noticed when others got off the path or out of their lane. We easily noticed those that erred. It's like the proverbial speck in the eye, but not noticing the beam in our own.

Rick believed that to accept this status quo was tantamount to complacency or futility. He piously wanted correction in his life. He compassionately wanted to offer an exciting concept that would instill new hope and excitement in those that had become discouraged. Those that lost their motivation to be dedicated to the cause of Christ, could now start fresh wherever they find themselves, even if they have gotten off the beaten trail. Don't discount what might seem minor as something to be ignored. It could have a lasting effect on yourself or others.

While some may not think this applies to them, Rick feels it actually applies to every professing Christian, including those in the ministry. It doesn't matter how long one has been a believer or what their calling may be, the essential need for balance hovers sometimes overhead, seemingly just out of reach. Why is it so elusive? It could be in major decisions, minor perceptions or essential biblical doctrines.

Regardless of the area, the amount of deviation, or frustration that one is experiencing, there is no doubt that this book will have a huge effect on those that want to please God. Rick is confident that the impact can be life changing! One will discover the concept of balance, its definition, its importance, how God views it, how to gain it and sustain it, and what the results will be.

It is the author's belief and hope that after beginning the book, bells will begin to ring in the reader's spirit as facets of this truth resonate. Each reader will recognize similar experiences and opportunities in the rearview mirror. Most importantly, they will understand how to navigate this life without making shipwreck or dislodging vital cargo from its precious hold.

May you be blessed with the most productive and fruitful life of meaning and purpose that you have ever had!
