Interfaith Center for Racial Justice

Saturday, March 24th the Police and Community Committee of Macomb ACT sponsored the Be the Change Turnabout Program for the Macomb Community College and High School Seniors and Juniors. The day long event was held at the Macomb Emergency Training Service Center. More than 50 participants went through a series of scenarios where they were the police and the police took on the role as the community members. In addition instructors from the Macomb Community College Police Academy staff guided participants through many of the scenarios. Macomb County Executive Mark Hackel, Macomb County Sheriff Anthony Wickersham, Judge Kenneth King of the Detroit 36 District Court offered opening remarks to start this exhilarating experience.

The ICRJ would like to thank Aldo Holmes and the Chippewa Valley High School staff for having our executive director, Carol Sullivan and our ICRJ interns for a Black History Month presentation. We look forward to ongoing discussions with students and staff.
