Did you know?

Growing up, while in elementary school, many of us had teachers (rightfully) correct us when referring to ourselves and others, making sure we didn't use the object pronoun "me" before the other person. It's rude AND incorrect because subjects start sentences, right? Not objects. BUT...here's where the unanticipated problem occurred:

Many of us began thinking that we ALWAY use "I" when referring to something pertaining to ourselves and another person. Not so fast--that's only if we are the subjects:

Petey and I went for a walk. ✔️

She came to see Max and I. ❌

Do a little test. If Max is not included, would you still say or write:

She came to see I.

NO

Another common insertion is "myself."

Jon and myself will go to the event.

NOPE

Myself is a reflexive pronoun to indicate something you have literally done to none other than yourself.

I hurt myself pretty badly.
