This is part 1 of some photos of a new custom home that we have built in Connelly Springs, NC.

Scroll through and you'll see:
→ 2,061 sq ft main level over a full 1,728 sq ft basement
→ 4 bedrooms, 4 bathrooms
→ 3-bay garage with room to spare
→ Copper roof accents that will only look better with age
→ A sauna, a dedicated pet wash, and his-and-her closets
→ All of it sitting on a poured concrete wall foundation

Photos show the finishes. What they can't show is the sequencing underneath them — and that's where custom homes are won or lost.

Free tip if you're planning your own build: ask any builder you interview how they handle selections. On a home like this, decisions about copper accents, sauna placement, and closet layouts were locked in early — not picked in a panic while framers waited. When selections are made ahead of the schedule instead of behind it, nothing gets substituted, rushed, or "value-engineered" at the last minute. The house you approved on paper is the house you walk into.

That's how this one came together, and it's how every JCM home comes together.

Somewhere in your head, the home already exists.

The way morning light falls across the floor. The kitchen that finally works the way you cook. The rooms your kids will remember growing up in. Our job is to build that into something real.

Here's a look at a new custom home that just got finished in Connelly Springs, NC:
→ 2,061 sq ft upper floor over a 1,728 sq ft basement
→ 4 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms
→ Poured concrete wall foundation for lasting strength
→ 3-bay garage
→ Copper roof accents
→ Sauna and a dedicated pet wash
→ His-and-her closets

None of those details came from a catalog.

Each one was chosen alongside the homeowner, because true custom building means the house is shaped around how you actually live — not squeezed into a floor plan someone else drew.

Free tip if you're planning a custom home: the process matters as much as the finish work. A calm, organized build with steady communication is what keeps high-end details from getting rushed or redone halfway through. Get the process right, and the finishes get done correctly the first time — no second-guessing, no corners quietly cut.

That's the standard we hold on every home we build: unhurried, organized, and done right.

The most important part of a high-end custom home is the part you'll never see once it's finished.

On this build, the site needed a significant amount of backfill — and rather than simply filling and moving on, every layer was engineered to protect the foundation for the life of the home:

→ All backfill was engineered and tested, not just placed
→ Compacted in controlled 12-inch lifts for consistent density
→ Standard soil classifications come in around 2,000 psi or less
→ This compacted fill was tested at over 2,500 psi, exceeding national building code

The reason comes down to what happens years down the road. Fill that isn't properly engineered and compacted is where settling starts — and settling is what leads to cracked foundations, uneven floors, and structural problems long after the keys are handed over. Doing it right at this stage means no settling and no loss of structural integrity for the life of the home.

Free tip if you're planning a custom home on a sloped or filled lot in the mountains: ask your builder how the fill beneath your foundation is engineered and compacted. It's one of the least visible parts of the project and one of the most important to the home's longevity.

Building the kind of home that lasts starts below grade. That's the standard we hold on every project.
