Each week, we break down common internet terms in plain English.

Today’s term: Fiber to the Home vs Fiber Powered

Fiber to the Home (FTTH) means fiber optic cable runs all the way to your home, delivering fast and consistent internet directly to you.

Fiber Powered means fiber is only used for part of the network. The final connection to your home is usually something else, like cable or copper lines.

Why it matters:
With Fiber to the Home, you get more reliable speeds, better performance, and fewer slowdowns during busy times.

With Fiber Powered, performance can vary depending on the type and condition of the connection to your home.

Think of it like this:
FTTH is a direct connection.
Fiber Powered is only part of the journey.

It's Pet Wednesday again, and Tomas is up again with Loki!

Loki's the epitome of Garfield, large & fluffy. Always wants to be on a lap whenever food isn't available. He will often annoy and fight his brothers and sisters for fun. He's friendly and often roaming around the house looking for snacks.

Unlike MINET's installation technicians and customer service specialists you are used to seeing in your homes and at our offices, often working behind the scenes amid the hum of cooling fans, bright green indicator lights, and miles of fiber connections, is one of our best kept secrets - Dakota Snow, MINET's Director of Network Operations. This month Dakota celebrates his 5th year as part of the MINET team ! Dakota brought a significant background of IT / networking related experience when he joined MINET and took full professional responsibility for our Network Operations Center.

Ensuring that everything inside the Network Operations Center runs at peak performance is a full time, 24/7 job that Dakota takes personally and is highly passionate about. His responsiveness, attention to detail, and the ownership he takes to ensure we are delivering the best possible services to our customers cannot be understated. He is one of the biggest secrets to MINET's success.

If you do get the chance to catch up with Dakota out "in the wild" please be sure to join us in BIG congratulations on 5 years with the MINET team - and for always keeping the fans going and the blinky lights on.

Pet Wednesday is here. Time to meet Bailey.

Hello, my name is Bailey, but if you’ve got any sense of style, you’ll call me Bae. I’m a 7-year-old English bulldog-pug mix, which basically means I’ve got the tiny head of a supermodel and the thick body of a heavyweight champion. A true icon. I am mommy’s ride-or-die best friend and Daddy’s designated cuddle heater. Honestly, I don’t know how they survived before me.

My favorite activities include: • Sleeping like I’m being paid for it • Cuddling like it’s an Olympic sport • and, of course, standing guard at the front window, judging everyone who dares walk by my house.

If you’re within 20 feet of my turf, just know I see you, and yes, I am silently roasting you. I may be small-headed and thick-bodied, but make no mistake, I run this house, I run this block, and I definitely run my humans.
