New Louisiana Rainfall Record!

History was just made in Avoyelles Parish! The National Weather Service and Louisiana State Climatologist Jay Grymes just verified 29.06 inches of rain measured in under 12 hours just southeast of Cottonport, LA on June 18, 2026.

This completely shatters the previous 24-hour state record of 22 inches, which had stood since August 29, 1962 (set in Hackberry).
