Thank you to the Chicago Botanic Gardens for showing us how we can present a balanced view on history.
To hold up our hero’s like Carolus Linnaeus, the legendary Swedish plant scientist. … AND to also show where he fell short and how his non scientific categorizations harmed non whites terribly.
I believe a good effort at opening dialogue by neither “canceling” Linnaeus nor whitewashing history.

Spent some time in Highland Park yesterday. Your town. My town. We’re sick. A National mental health crisis soup to nuts.
A reinforcing feedback loop. Stress anxiety fear tragedy fear anxiety stress. We gotta figure this out. An existential crisis especially for our youngins.
This doesn’t need to happen. Ever. Almost never happens in other countries.
Talk to your kids. Talk to your neighbors. Who needs help? Find them. Listen. It’s the greatest gift we can give to another person. Our undivided attention.
Reform. Policy debate. Yes all that. A hundred times.
But for now. Listen. It’s free. Easy to do. Find someone. And listen.

Column: If you're a coffee drinker, you really need to care about climate change Coffee prices, and food costs in general, are rising because of climate change. For consumers, that's a good reason to take this problem seriously.

Happy Juneteenth, Fathers Day and a fine Sunday to all.
INFO: A nod to this animated and narrated video that demonstrates how long it took the trees and
phytoplankton to supply our coal and oil.
THOUGHT: Compare that to how quickly we are burning through our fossil fuels. Really clears up how unsustainable our current path of consumption is.
ACTION: Think about how you and your family and coworkers can get to carbon neutral — and then act on it. 🤔 … I will. I am.
