Left the bikes, kept the mountains!

Blue Hills riders traveled out of New England this week for a few days of backpacking in New York’s Adirondack High Peaks region. Twenty miles of backcountry adventure capped off with the 4,960ft summit of Mount Haystack!

A moment of appreciation for all the folks out there prioritizing the experience for kids! Thank you for not compromising in your designs, and for giving kids bikes the thoughtful engineering that they deserve. Where others try and shrink their full sized bikes to accommodate small riders, HUPcc builds kid specific platforms from the ground up. Even amongst the other kid focused brands, their attention to detail and focus on getting kids on bigger wheels keeps them a step ahead.

Their size extra small XC 27.5 frame has given the youngest and smallest riders on our team the confidence, traction, and rollover capabilities to ride anything, anywhere, with anyone. And with the right geometry and a fit that works with and not against them, these kids are so much more likely to fall in love with riding and stay on bikes for years to come!

The girls were back in action this weekend at the ! Jeff and the team out in Marshfield have created one of the most fun trail systems anywhere in Massachusetts. The flowy, costal trails are a must ride for anyone here on the south shore.

Lizzy, Eleanor, Thea, and Dharma tackled nearly 1,400ft of climbing in their 13 mile Junior Girls race, while Colby flew the flag for Blue Hills Devo in the boys field!

No more school, so much more summer, and so many more opportunities to play bikes with friends!

The inaugural season of Blue Hills Racing, and the third season of Blue Hills Devo came to a close this weekend at the .league event number six at Wompatuck State Park in MA. More than 100 of our athletes, coaches, and family members traveled to the final round of racing to watch the kids end their year in the same way it began: with enthusiasm, resilience, and spectacularly strong bike riding.

We had standout performances across the board!

Lizzy Gilman completed the perfect season with 7 wins in 7 starts, while Dharma Gonzalez earned her first trip to the awards stage with a 5th place finish in her last race! Sofia Kemecsei and Estelle Hediger completed their own gold medal sweeps of the K/1 and 2/3 Devo categories, while Olivia Kirk added another silver medal to her collection in the girls 4/5’s. All said, the girls from Blue Hills made 43 podium appearances in eight weeks of racing this spring.

On the boys side, Hollis Butler won his 5th consecutive gold medal in the boys JS-1 class to complete a historic rookie season while Flynn Myerson, making his NEYC debut, rode from 85th on the start grid to finish in the top 10. Our middle school boys, Ethan, Gleb, and Sebastian all ended the year with season best performances in the Open 2 and Junior Varsity fields. All this on the heels of another memorable Devo day on Saturday for our K-5th graders where Seneca Kenney won the boys K/1 category along with 5 other Blue Hills Devo boys earning a trip to the podium.

Post race, the teams laughed and celebrated with end-of-year parties back at our tent village. The amount of sugar consumed was equally alarming and deserved. (Thanks to our neighboring teams for helping finish the gallons on extra ice cream we somehow accumulated!)

And to .catale and the .league, thank you for creating the spaces and opportunities for us to make these memories. Your tireless efforts to get is seen and appreciated. We hope you’ll have us back for 2027!

Death, taxes, and the kids from Blue Hills Racing leaving it all out on the race course— these things are certain!

Our group of 10 traveled west this weekend to Dalton, MA; a stone’s throw from the Appalachian Trail and home to .league Race number 5 at Holiday Brook Farm. Retro motels, dinner reservations for 25, and another haul of podium medals to add to their collection. 🥇🥈🥉

One week remains this spring, this time on home turf here on the south shore at Wompatuck State Park. We’re bringing all 80 Blue Hills athletes and coaches from both teams to line up one last time and celebrate the end of another spectacular season!
