This past week I traveled with my dear Nicole through the amazing Mid-West and Southeast playing Luvplanet music, seeing friends and enjoying the beautiful USA. I also took a day to visit my former bandmate, boss and brother, Gregg Allman. As I wasn't able to attend his funeral a few years back, I was grateful to have this time to do so. Laid to rest at Rose Hill Cemetery in Macon, GA, alongside his brother Duane, Berry Oakley and Butch Trucks, it was quite an emotional day. Aside from a biker gang called the 'Midnight Riders' and one very sweet couple that we chatted with briefly, there was no one else there. Being that we arrived in the morning hours, this allowed for a most private visit at his resting place. It was nice but really only intensified the reality and finality of it all. All in all it was a very beautiful morning and the cemetery is actually quite breathtaking. In years past while on the road, some of the band and crew would go there to visit the site but Gregory was still here with us. Not now! It felt like I had read the last chapter of a book. I am grateful to have been a part of the story. So I guess the reason I'm sharing this is just a simple reminder to cherish every single day and never take this life for granted! It is your chance to write your own story and to leave something special behind! Make it good and live it well!
