This July 4th, we’re looking back at a historic milestone on Big Muddy Lake at Camp Mackall. Years ago, we launched the Department of Defense’s very first floating solar plant!

By floating 1.1 MW of clean solar power directly on the water, the system preserves valuable training land for our Special Forces at Fort Bragg. Paired with a 2 MWh battery, it creates a self-sufficient microgrid that safeguards critical operations if the main grid goes offline.
