Did you know you can optimize your performance on race or competition days by paying a little more attention to what you consume in the days leading up to the event?
Lisa Dorfman, founder of CHI Energy Bites, is a former professional triathlete and runner, 35x marathoner, 4x Boston Marathon runner (2:52 PR) and champion of races from the track to ultras. She’s put together some of her top nutritional tips to get your body ready for a marathon or athletic event. Below is a sneak peek. ⤵️
In the 1 to 2 days leading up to the event:
-Trade high fiber meals for simpler foods like baked chicken, fish, cereal, potato and quinoa
-Boost vitamin, mineral and fiber through sprouts, fruits and fortified beverages
-Increase your intake of vitamin fortified waters
-Avoid alcohol during these couple of days
On competition day:
-Eat light: think crackers, toast, etc.
-Avoid dairy
-Fuel up with a banana or a couple hours before the race
-Drink a combination of water and endurance sports drinks up to a half hour before the race
