We are honored to share that The Rotunda at Collins Park has received a 2026 Florida Preservation Award for the historic conservation of Albert Vrana’s architectural sculptural mural panels "The Story of Man".
Last week, the City of Miami Beach and VAS Art Productions received the award in Conservation, Preservation, Maintenance & Repair from the Florida Trust for Historic Preservation.
This recognition means so much to us. VAS Art Productions was born in this community, and helping protect Miami Beach’s cultural heritage is part of who we are.
In 2024, a municipal renovation revealed hidden corrosion and structural deterioration behind the 164 monumental panels, after more than 60 years of coastal exposure.
The City of Miami Beach made the right decision: full removal, conservation, and reinstallation.
No cosmetic fixes, no shortcuts, no compromises.
And that is where we came in: to help rescue and preserve the art.
Our team led the specialized conservation work: careful removal of all 164 panels, treatment of each sculptural surface, and reinstallation to preserve Albert Vrana’s original composition.
From the beginning, our commitment was clear: respect the artist’s work, protect his hand in every surface, and honor his vision in every decision.
We are deeply proud of our team: Carlitos, Hansel, Erik, Guillermo, Iván, Luis Eligio, and Esteban Ferrer. Your hard work, care, and commitment helped make this possible. Thank you.
To City of Miami Beach (CIP dpt), AVR Contractors Corp., the engineer Kamran, Ray and the CPNA, thank you for your leadership, support, care, and collaboration.
And to The Bass, thanks for bring new life into the Rotunda today.
This recognition belongs to everyone who cared, worked, trusted, and believed in bringing this landmark back with the respect it deserved.
Art that lives, creations that last.
With deep gratitude,
