A black Labrador had to be rescued from the UK's highest mountain after reportedly eating cannabis during a hike and becoming seriously ill.

Five-year-old Tokyo was hiking up Ben Nevis in Scotland with her owner, professional dog trainer Christina Bluhme, when she suddenly became weak and started drifting in and out of consciousness near the summit.

Fearing the worst, Bluhme initially thought Tokyo had suffered a spinal injury. But after the dog was rescued and examined by veterinarians, they concluded she had likely consumed cannabis somewhere along the trail.

"She had all the symptoms of consuming cannabis," Bluhme said. "What really gave it away was when she had her temperature taken... it smelled completely like cannabis. It was almost like standing next to someone smoking w**d."

Thankfully, Tokyo recovered after receiving treatment—but her owner is now urging hikers not to leave drugs or other harmful substances behind on walking trails, as they can pose a serious risk to animals.
