Few things make me happier than decorating this tree every year…

At first glance it may look like any other Christmas tree but a closer look will reveal a scrapbook of humor, silliness, and joy throughout the years.

From mer-men to woolly mammoths and Hallmark collectibles purchased nearly 30 years out-of-date, this, my friends, is my pride and joy of the holiday season… my ugly ornament Christmas tree!

It started with a joke ornament I bought my mom 12 years ago and has turned into my favorite tradition. Every year I am thrilled to receive gifts of “special” ornaments to put on this tree knowing how much joy it brings to all who see it. My home is filled with happiness and laughter as I adorn this tree each year and recall the stories and excitement from my friends and family of how they scoured and found the perfect addition!

Most importantly, in a time of year where it’s so easy to get caught up in the ideal of “perfection” with everything from buying gifts to home decor, this tree serves as a reminder that the best memories often come from letting “perfection” go and embracing the simple joys that surround us already.
