Good morning!
Holy wow, yesterday was a whirlwind! I had no idea how many wished me happy birthday, but I sure felt the well wishes and love! I'm not sure there are enough words to express my gratitude to everyone!
Let me tell you about my day:
We've had family in since last Friday and had to drop them off at the airport yesterday. Bittersweet.....missing them before they left, but looking forward to a quiet house. Well, the Lord blessed us with another few days with them!
We dropped them off and went to look at a puppy Dan was interested in. Since they were only 6 weeks old, we figured we would look and he would have 2 weeks to decide. LOL!!! Jokes on us. As we are playing with the pups and deciding which female he might like, we get a call from our family member stating their flight had been delayed over 4 hours.
Instead of banking on getting on the early flight the next day and spending the night in the airport, they changed flights to another day. So, we had to go pick them back up.
I asked the girl if the pups would be ready in 2 weeks...."Oh, they are ready now. Fully off mom, eating on their own. You could take her today. Do you think you want one?" Dan - "YES, I definitely want one!".
So, we had to go to the bank, get the money, head back and get the pup, then go pick up our family at the airport.
On our way I was informed I would need to come in to help with the 2 year old who was having a meltdown, Went in, got the 2 and 4 year olds, took them to the car (Dan was waiting for us, with the pup) and then we waited for their parent to get the bags that had already been checked.
"Where's the puppy?" "Can I see it?" "Can I hold it? PLEASE!" Yadda yadda yadda...while we waited.
Finally got the bags, got home and now the kids wanted to see the pup, play with her. Had to introduce her to our 5 year old dog. Of course, sent out pictures to friends and family....a must!
Then our oldest and her oldest, along with a SIL, came to meet the new member. Then our youngest came over to meet her. The whole afternoon sped by with all 3 of our kids here and 3 of our 4 grandkids!
The oldest left, the youngest stayed and we ordered Flying Pie pizza with sourdough crust....I had no clue they did sourdough! and hung out all evening.
So, originally my plans for my birthday was to rest, relax and probably do nothing. Instead we had chaos, family, new fur member and just enjoyed each others company.
Instead of being annoyed and irritated, I looked around and realized just HOW BLESSED we really are! We may not have all the materialistic things others have, we may not be the richest in a monetary sense, we may not travel all the time....but...and this is a big but.....We are blessed in so many other ways! In my opinion, much better ways! We have our health. We have our family. We have each other and when there are tough or hard times, no one gives a second thought to jump in and help where needed. Although we get on each others nerves, irritate each other, p**s off each other, we ultimately love each other and will protect and help our family when called for. And it's ok for the kids to harass each other, but should someone else do it to one of their siblings....watch out....there will be scars, at the least! And that is how it should be!
God most definitely has blessed this family and I am forever grateful for His blessings and grace!
I can honestly say with love and grace in my heart....yesterday was THE best birthday in a very long time! Thank you JESUS!
