When people hear the word Ta**ra, many imagine s*x, drugs, and spiritual rebellion.

Neo-Ta**ra ≠ Traditional Ta**ra

Traditional Ta**ra has two main branches: Left-Hand Path (Vāmācāra) and Right-Hand Path (Dakṣiṇācāra)

The Left-Hand Path uses the 5 M’s literally:
Madya – wine
Māṁsa – meat
Matsya – fish
Mudrā – grain offerings
Maithuna – ritual s*x

These were used in extreme practices by advanced ascetics (Sādhus) to test their non-attachment, awaken energy, and break social conditioning. But these practices were never meant for everyone. They can disturb the mind and body when misused.

The Right-Hand Path (Hatha Yoga / Saptāṅga Yoga) transforms these M's into internal, symbolic practices:

Madya → Prāṇa — cultivating inner bliss without substances
Māṁsa → Inner discipline — mastery over senses, not flesh
Matsya → Conscious nourishment — eating with awareness
Mudrā → Energetic seals — like Kechari, Maha, Ashwini etc.
Maithuna → Internal union — of Shiva (consciousness) and Shakti (energy)

This is where Hatha Yoga comes from and it's not just about stretching and poses, but about inner alchemy rooted in the right-hand Ta***ic path.

So no, modern Neo-Ta**ra — focused mostly on s*xuality and pleasure — is not the same as traditional Ta**ra. The original purpose was never indulgence but liberation.

Yoga was never meant to be just about stretching or “doing postures” but that's what social media often presents it as. Yoga is a path of internal transformation.

So if you’re only practicing postures without understanding what they were designed to awaken... you might be missing the very essence of yoga.
