Today is the day! NASA astronaut and Pike brother Mike Hopkins (Illinois-Champaign, Beta Eta ‘88 ) will make his first trip into space today for a 6 month mission. A 1986 initiate of Eta Omicron Chapter at Louisiana-Monroe, Tim McGraw's achievements are as remarkable as they are numerous: nine albums spawning 25 #1 singles and selling 33 million copies, successful tours, and scores of awards including a 2001 CMA Entertainer of the Year nod, 2 Grammys and the 2004 People's Choice Award for Favorite Male Musical Performer. He was the headline act at the 2003 Nobel Peace Prize Concert, and in November 2004 made his major motion picture acting debut in "Friday Night Lights". McGraw is a celebrity cabinet board member with the American Red Cross, and continues his involvement as an alum with Eta Omicron Chapter.
