This weekend I spent time teaching my 15-year-old son to drive a car, a pontoon boat, and a four-wheeler. Like most teenagers, after about 15 minutes he was convinced he had it all figured out.

It got me thinking...

Is commercial real estate any different?

Every generation brings something valuable to our industry. Gen Z is innovative, tech-savvy, and changing the way we communicate. But some lessons still can't be learned from AI, TikTok, or Google Earth.

Some things require reps.

Walking the trade area.

Making the cold calls.

Reading the leases.

Learning from mentors.

Making mistakes.

The older generation doesn't know everything... but we might know a few things worth passing along.

My newest CRE Professor blog isn't about criticizing Gen Zโ€”it's about how every generation can learn from the other.

After all...

Technology gives you information. Experience gives you judgment.
