Most of you know me for calligraphy and live events. That’s not going anywhere! But over the last couple of years, I’ve been building something new behind the scenes: pattern design 🌸
My goal is a little sentimental: I want to design my own fabrics for quilting! I've been quilting since I was about 10 with my mom and grandmother, but it never occurred to me that there were people out there designing the fabrics I selected. 🧵🪡
I tried teaching myself how to turn sketches and paintings into repeat patterns. I got frustrated and overwhelmed because it just didn't make sense, no matter how many tutorials I watched.
Immersion is what finally made it click💡
It taught me how to take my existing art, vectorize it, build seamless repeats, develop collections, and see my work with more potential than I realized!
If you’re a creative who’s ever wondered what else your art could become beyond client work or one-off pieces, this is the course that helped me expand my own vision.
Registration is open through February 24. 🗓️

Pattern is everywhere again!
Take a look around next time you're out shopping and count the patterns you see! Linens. Bedding. Pillows. Stationery. Drinkware. Rugs. And of course, my personal favorite: quilter's cotton textiles! 🩷🧵
After years of minimalism, people are craving color, texture, and design that feels human. Surface pattern designers are right at the center of that shift.
Print & Pattern Revival is a free 4-day live workshop that introduces this creative world in a way that feels clear and approachable.
If you’ve been curious but unsure where to start, this is a beautiful beginning. Join me in reigniting our creativity together! 🩷 Save your free spot, we start on February 11th!

It’s spooky and pumpkin spice everything time of year again! 🎃 While I don’t love scary things, I do enjoy a good murder mystery! 🕵🏻♀️ I’ve been watching more detective and mystery movies lately, and in the spirit of Inktober, I wanted to create a piece inspired by one of my favorite Agatha Christie novels, The Murder of Roger Ackroyd ✒️ I read it last year and loved every minute of it, clever, witty, and suspenseful enough to keep me on the edge of my seat, yet still let me sleep at night 😴
I used my favorite Speedball tools to bring it to life, and of course, make it pink 🩷 I even had some dahlias in bloom that happen to match my inks 💐 Swipe to see some behind the scenes moments creating this piece!
Are you reading or watching anything mysterious this spooky season? 👀 If you’re a fellow Agatha Christie fan, especially Poirot novels, I'd love to hear your favorite, or any other mystery recommendation, to add to my list! 📚📺

Welcome back friends! Today I’m sharing Chapter 2 of my calligraphy story: Experiment 👩🏻🔬🧪🥼🥽
It's 2016 and I'm in college. My roommate had been browsing Pinterest and found calligraphy samples she wanted to try. She went out and bought the first kit she saw, some Dr. Ph. Martin’s Copperplate gold, and convinced me I needed a matching kit too! We could destress from our engineering studies with creative play! I promptly began browsing “Calligraphy fonts” on Pinterest, set up my folding card table, and got to work. ✒️
I quickly learned a valuable lesson: not all kits are made with the same goals in mind! I picked up broad edge nibs and was looking at samples of pointed pen scripts! Don't forget to research the tools and materials you need to achieve the style you’re looking for rather than blindly purchasing a kit. Had I been drawn to Textura, Fractur, or Uncial, I would have been 𝔤𝔬𝔩𝔡𝔢𝔫 ✨
Not having the “right” supplies didn’t really stop me from creating 👩🏻🎨 I still created pieces I loved and proudly shared them! That small pink piece "enjoy today" is still one of my favorites 🩷
Looking back on my old work, I see lots of mistakes, the intended vision, lack of ex*****on, and missing guidelines, but the excitement is still evident from these pieces! I can’t throw them away because they don’t fit 2025 Shannon’s standards 📝 2016 Shannon is still very proud of that work and it deserves to be kept! 🖼️
The ability to look at previous work and see ways to improve is a skill. It’s a visual storytelling of growth! 🌱
💬 Do you still have your earliest calligraphy pieces or did you end up tossing any once you improved?

Hi friends, nice to meet you! I’m Shannon of Shannon Scripts, a live event artist who loves engraving, heat foiling, and painting for brands! This week I have the immense pleasure of taking over the account! 🤩✒️
Over the next few days, I’ll share my calligraphy journey, some lessons learned, messy moments, and hopefully some encouragement along the way 🎉
Let’s start at the beginning where calligraphy and I first met, in 2007. ✒️ My art teachers wanted to introduce us to calligraphy. We didn’t start with fancy tools, just pencil, paper, and watercolors. Our instructions were to draw the letters to the best of our ability and fill them in with our chosen media.
One project had us write a line from songs and poems our teacher chose. Little did I know that studying those letters was the start of my calligraphy journey. I have so much to thank those sweet, kind, outgoing, encouraging, and pushing you to be the best artist you can kind of teachers ♥ Swipe to the right to see 2007 drawn calligraphy and scratch boards, who else loved these?! 🤩
Looking back, it amazes me how far this artform has taken me and how many incredible artists I’ve met through it! This community is such a blessing and I’m so grateful to have the opportunity to share and hopefully encourage you with my story! Come back and chat with me tomorrow for the next chapter ☺ 📜
Who introduced you to calligraphy? Was it an art teacher, a friend, family member, or a book? 👩🎨 I’d love to hear your first calligraphy intro! ✒️
