Here's something that surprises almost every client I visit on the South Shore. They hand me their iPhone thinking the battery is just getting old, and when we sit down together and go through the settings, we find a dozen things quietly working against them. Background App Refresh running for apps they never open. Location Services set to Always for things that have no reason to track their location. Push email checking constantly. Notifications firing from every app they've ever downloaded. During my 90-minute session we go through all of it together so you actually understand what each setting does and why it matters. You know your phone better than you did when I arrived. Interested in learning what does what? Send me a message.

USA takes on Paraguay tonight at 9 PM in their World Cup opener, and if you can't be glued to the TV all night, Apple's free Sports app has you covered.

With Live Activities turned on, the live score shows up right on your Lock Screen and in your Dynamic Island the whole time. Every goal, every update, without opening a single app.

I put together a quick 60-second walkthrough showing exactly how to set it up. Check out my Reel and you'll be ready before kickoff.

Let's go USA! πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡Έ ⚽

Apple had a big day yesterday! New Siri, a faster iPhone experience, and powerful parental controls are all coming this fall. The best move you can make right now is to strengthen your Apple foundation before the updates arrive. Message me to book a session and get ahead of the curve.

πŸ”§ iFix Friday Tip: Find My works for iPhone, iPad, Mac, AirPods, Apple Watch, and AirTags, but only if it's turned on. For Mac, go to System Settings β†’ [your name] β†’ Saved to iCloud (see all) β†’ Enable Find My Mac. For iOS, go to Settings β†’ [your name] β†’ Find My. Enable Find My and "Send Last Location." That last one reports your device's location even if the battery dies. iPhone, iPad, Mac, AirPods, Apple Watch: set it up on all of them. I walk through this with clients all the time. It takes about a minute per device. Make sure these are on right now!

Most of the parents I talk to on the South Shore know their kid loves Roblox but feel like they're on the outside looking in. That's exactly what Thursday's presentation is designed to fix. I'll walk through how the platform actually works, what the real risks are, and how to set up parental controls that do something. Free, in person, this Thursday at Ventress Memorial Library in Marshfield. You can find the link in the comments.

πŸ”§ iFix Friday Tip: Emergency SOS is built into every iPhone. Let's make sure it's turned on! Open Settings β†’ Emergency SOS. Enable 'Call with Hold and Release' or 'Call with 5 Button Presses.' Also, add your Medical ID in the Health app so first responders can access it from your lock screen. Be sure to set it up for yourself and your family. Need more support? Send me a message.

Just a friendly reminder that this event is coming up next Thursday, June 4th!

If you have a kid who plays Roblox (or has been asking to), this one's for you. We'll talk about what makes Roblox different from other video games, the real risks parents should know about (chat safety, in-app purchases, inappropriate content), and I'll do a live walkthrough of Roblox's parental controls so you leave with practical tools, not just information.

Space is limited and we do have a registration link, which is in the comments. Hope to see some familiar faces there!

If you saw my post earlier this week about the Roblox parent presentation at Ventress Memorial Library on June 4th, this one goes hand in hand with it. Knowing what your kids are doing online is one piece of the puzzle. The other piece is making sure their devices are actually set up to support the boundaries you want. Apple's Screen Time feature is one of the most powerful parenting tools I know of, and most families have never opened it. App limits, content filters, downtime schedules, the ability to approve or block apps before they're ever downloaded. All of it is built right into iOS. During a 90-minute visit I help parents get everything configured in a way that actually makes sense for their family. If you have kids with Apple devices and you've been meaning to get this sorted, send me a message.

This week's iFix Friday tip is a little different.

The fix? Close the knowledge gap if you have a kid who plays Roblox and you've ever thought "I should probably know more about this game."

On June 4th I'm hosting a free parent presentation at Ventress Memorial Library in Marshfield β€” covering how Roblox actually works, what the real risks are, and how to set up parental controls that do something. Space is limited and registration is open now. Link in the comments.
