What is the worst fate that can befall a chronically-homeless person?

It's not death.

Nor, is it going days on end without proper hydration or nourishment, or siting in the sweltering heat or freezing cold, no longer able to distinguish between perspiration or tears.

Or, wearing dirty clothes, or carrying parasites, communicable diseases, or illness, or being robbed or beaten, or sexually assaulted.

The worst fate that can befall a chronically-homeless person is being alive without connection, identity, or hope. It's being treated as if you don't exist, as if you are no longer human,
as if you no longer matter in this world.

As you walk by a homeless person, please don't look at them and their plight as a moral failure.

With Summer coming and hot weather, those who live outdoors trying to survive the elements will struggle to stay hydrated.

Three hours of outreach this morning. On Sunday mornings people are often over at Salvation Army for breakfast. We try to connect with them before they go over there. We start at Double Tree ( at 'The Wall'), then cross over to Vet's Park, then Kalivas Park, 199 Manchester Street, Bronstein Park, then Victory.

There are camp spots that we try to go to, places we won't mention here.

4:30AM - All set for outreach. Well, not quite. Have to wait for Walmart to open to get 200 bottles of water, hand sanitizer, sanitary wipes etc..

We made up 100 snack lunches. Hope that that is enough. Got loads of clothes.

Will go to the parks and side streets where the homeless congregate. Blessed to be able to do this.

Just did outreach. Had tons of chocolate milk, water, snacks to distribute - also tee shirts. Good day to be out. Nice weather. :-)
