I recently had the honor of representing the Wisconsin Hispanic Legislative Caucus at the Hispanic Federation Encuentro in downtown Milwaukee. This event brought together nearly 100 Latino nonprofit leaders, partners, and community advocates from across the Midwest.
The Encuentro was an incredible opportunity to highlight both the successes of the Latino community and the significant challenges we face. It served as a powerful platform to raise our voices, strengthen our collective impact, and help shape the future for Latino communities throughout the region.
I was also able to take a walk through the beautiful city of MKE and came across this Deer the night we heard the news about Giannis.

It was such an pleasure to honor Angela Wiese and Darcie Clark with Legislative Citations for being nominated as First Responders of the Year for the Town of Pine Grove / Bancroft and Bancroft Pine-Grove Volunteer Fire Department. These two amazing women have gone the extra mile to step up for their community and communities beyond. As I solicited nominations from volunteer fire department in the 71st, multiple fire chiefs from adjacent districts and community members mentioned these two remarkable ladies, saying that they step up and do the work... humbly, quietly, and with grace.
They do this work in a time when volunteer fire departments and EMS personnel enrollment is at an all time low. These are the folks who show up on your worst day, have your back, and give you the care you need. And let's be frank, they need all of our support now more than ever. So, if you are able to send then a donation, or drop off some homemade cookies, or better yet, if you're able to volunteer to be one of their colleagues, please enroll today. I know they'd be happy to have you.
