Engineers at NYU have constructed "fluid gears," which completely change how we think about mechanical gearbox.
Gears have used interlocking teeth to move power for thousands of years. Instead of solid teeth, this novel design uses fluid currents. They use whirling vortices to move cylinders in water without the sections ever contacting each other.
What makes this so revolutionary?
No Contact: No grinding means no wear and tear and no need for lubrication.
Jam-Proof: If the system runs into something that resists it, the fluid just slips past it, stopping a major failure.

What often confuses people is the word theory. In everyday language it sounds like a guess. In science it means a framework that explains facts, unifies evidence, and survives constant testing. NASA spotted baby stars shaped like a glowing tree in space 🌌⭐
About 2,500 light years from Earth, astronomers discovered something that feels almost unreal. A cluster of infant stars inside the Milky Way appears shaped like a Christmas tree.
