I attended the First Annual Altadena Candlelight Vigil last night, coordinated by Veronica Fields and Yolanda Williams. It was an evening of remembrance, healing, and renewed commitment to rebuilding a brighter tomorrow, as the community reflected on the January 2025 blaze that devastated Altadena.

There are many pressing issues facing our country; however, we must not forget our neighbors. They still need us. They are still fighting for survival against con artists, unresponsive insurance companies, and land-grabbing robber barons who prey on vulnerable people in moments of crisis.

One of the joys of being a feature writer is meeting talented and prolific playwrights like Douglas Lyons, the author of the rom com "Table 17" now playing at the Geffen. It is funny.
