Van Dining

We celebrated Thanksgiving during breakfast time at my daughter’s house so we could watch our granddaughter as a drum major leading the Macy’s All American Marching Band.
For Dinner, my son and I were very thankful for Weber Grill and the staff that was working. Their meatloaf is the reason I stopped making my own. Why, when theirs is perfection.

Our son, Evan has become my dining buddy. Tonight, we tried out a new place in downtown Lombard. The owners of The Egg House have expanded into the area to the west of them and have created a restaurant with a great atmosphere called The Grove Tavern, and have taken an unused lot and turned it into outdoor dining. It has really improved that part of St Charles Road. I drove by earlier in the evening and saw that it was packed! I went home, mowed the yard, and went back later, and was seated immediately.
We ordered drinks, I got an old-fashioned, and Evan got a Mezcal Paloma (nicely smoky). I saw potato skins were on the appetizer menu, so, for old times sake, I got them. They are a comfort food for me.
For dinner, I got the BBQ pork with coleslaw, tots, and Texas Toast. Nice bbq sauce. I like to dip the Texas toast in it. Pork was great.
Evan got the Turkey burger with waffle fries.
My only regret is that I couldn’t eat more 😄
Im so happy for the owners on their new venture , and for downtown Lombard getting a new place for dining!
