As a father of two daughters, I am disturbed by the possible cover-up of Representative Benton's alleged sexual harassment of staff and lobbyists. Reports indicate that the cover up has now reached the highest levels of House Democratic leadership. Governor Pritzker is the chief executive of this state and the leader of the Democratic Party in Illinois.
I call on the Governor to demand the release of the Legislative Inspector General's report on Representative Benton's investigation and to call for further investigations, as the harassment allegations point to possible cover-ups by top Democrats in the Illinois House of Representatives.
Governor Pritzker and House Democrats had five full months this year to make meaningful changes to the SAFE-T Act and improve public safety.
They had every opportunity to address the concerns raised by communities, victims and law enforcement across Illinois.
What did they accomplish?
Absolutely NOTHING.
