Lemon Hill Botanicals

It’s pasture mowing day here. This winter and spring has been so awfully dry that we are afraid wildfire season will start early, so we are doing our first mow a bit earlier than usual to try to keep the fuel load around us as low as possible. I’m running around the fields this morning, cutting wildflowers, harvesting one last load of miner’s lettuce and chickweed for the chickens, and whispering to all the little creatures to move out before the mower comes through. Never my favorite day of the year, but necessary.
