So many people are struggling to find employment. The issue seems far beyond the lack of available postings on job boards. The algorithms are so scewed that you will never see all the potential jobs in your area. I tested this theory with Indeed creating a fake profile to see the different job matches identified for my fake person with no skills, and if the algorithm showed jobs that weren't showing up with my uploaded resume. My fake person got job lead recommendations where myself was not seeing the job at all, or getting recommendations. AI is becoming the main tool for screening applicants and employers are missing highly qualified hard working individuals. What a horrible missed opportunity for both. To add insult to injury, employers aren't paying people the value of their experience or education in many mid professional roles--Bachelor degrees become useless pieces of paper. The cost of living has skyrocketed and even professional roles are hiring at much lower wages than one would expect in today's inflated economy. Professionals are burnt out and are struggling to settle for less than they feel they are worth with good reason. Employers need to get rid of their AI screening tools and get back to interviewing candidates face to face.
