One of my carvings received 1st place at the Charlotte Woodcarvers Club showcase today. (Open Relief Carving Category) I really love to carve rustic landscapes, taking a simple piece of wood and turning it into a place that reminds me of a peaceful retreat or a favorite getaway.

I am greatful for the chance to keep learning and doing something I enjoy.

Taking a woodcarving class through the OLLI program at Furman University has been such a rewarding experience. There’s something deeply satisfying about starting with a blank piece of wood and slowly chipping away everything that doesn’t match the vision in your mind. I am grateful for opportunities like this to keep learning, creating, and exploring something I truly enjoy. Thank you to instructor Kent Ellison for teaching us your skill.
