Meet Steve the Camel Cricket (aka Spider Cricket)

We found this big feller while moving some storage next to the . There was a small colony of little camel crickets underneath one of our storage boxes.

Camel crickets do not chirp like regular crickets. They do enjoy jumping *directly at their predators* (hence the scream at the end 😅)

Thank you for coming out and helping me plant trees as always! We planted four Desert Ironwoods next to the existing Desert Willows—approximately 8.5 feet apart. Two are buried in their cardboard containers, with their bottoms carved out so the tap root can grow. This was based on the advice of an elderly couple down the road, who have been farming in the area for over 60 years :)

And yes—I put Steve the Camel Cricket back where we found him 🦗
