Increasing veterinary costs are not just making pet ownership unattainable for many people, they're putting strain on rescues that cannot afford veterinary care.
There are so many pieces of the puzzle that need attention when trying to put together a comprehensive plan to fix the pet overpopulation problem and veterinary care is just one of those pieces.
If the people cannot afford spay/neuter, then the community and pets will suffer. Keeping care afforable helps pets stay in homes, prevents unwanted litters and supports rescuers. Corporate greed can, and does, derail even the best programs set up to help people and pets.

Most people don't understand when they share their opinions about any topic on social media, it will most likely only be shared with people who think similarly. The algorithm is set up to show the post to people who are most likely to engage with it.
To get a message out to a broader audience, posts need to be shared to places where the algorithm wouldn't normally share the post. So thoughtful planning when sharing a message is needed to avoid "preaching to the choir". You don't need to change the minds of the people who already advocate with you.
In addition to thoughtfully planning where to share information on social media, advocates in every community should be focusing on how to share information to their local community physically. Hand outs, fliers hung on community boards, tables set up to share information at events, and getting real "boots on the ground" to spread information is needed. Show up to community meetings. Be present in how your community is governed.
Education is fundamental to create long lasting change in every possible situation. For animal advocacy, tapping into the community who creates the pet overpopulation problem is overwhelmingly needed. That can also be done legally through additional laws and increased enforcement of those laws. The foundation of law enforcement is "Ignorance of the law excuses no one."
