Welcome to Lone Star Ditch Dog Rescue, Pearl!

We officially picked Pearl up this evening and got her settled into one of our amazing foster homes.

From the moment we met her, it was obvious what a special girl she is. Pearl is incredibly sweet, affectionate, and just wants to be close to her people. She has plenty of young-dog energy, but that’s exactly what you’d expect from a healthy, happy pup who finally has a chance to just be a dog.

We may never understand why someone chose to dump her and walk away, but one thing is certain they truly missed out on an incredible companion. Pearl is as loyal as they come, and all she wants is someone to love.

The good news? She’ll never have to wonder if she’s wanted again.

From this day forward, Pearl will know safety, full bellies, soft beds, and unconditional love. She’ll never have to fend for herself or wait on the side of the road hoping her family comes back. Those days are behind her.

Now it’s our turn to show her that not all humans give up on their dogs.

Thank you to everyone who shared her story, offered support, and helped make this possible. It truly takes a village to save lives like Pearl’s, and because of you, her future is finally looking bright.

Welcome to the Lone Star Ditch Dog Rescue family, sweet girl. We promise your best days are still ahead of you. ❤️

URGENT FOSTER NEEDED!!

She survived what so many others didn’t.

This sweet girl was living at an abandoned house with multiple other dogs. While she fought every day just to survive, several of the dogs and puppies there didn’t make it. Somehow, she did.

Now she’s safe… but only temporarily.

Right now, she’s sitting outside in a kennel in the brutal Texas heat. She has no air conditioning, no couch to curl up on, no family to comfort her—just a kennel she can’t leave and the relentless summer sun. She escaped one nightmare only to spend her days waiting for someone to give her a chance.

She’s approximately 5 years old, incredibly sweet, and despite everything she’s been through, she still looks at people with hope. She even carries an old injury from a gunshot wound, a heartbreaking reminder of the life she’s endured. Yet she continues to trust.

She deserves so much more than surviving.

We desperately need a foster for her. Lone Star Ditch Dog Rescue will cover her veterinary care and provide the support you need. All we’re asking is for someone to open their home and give her a safe place to rest while we find her forever family.

Please don’t let her spend another day outside in this heat wondering if anyone cares.

If you can foster, or know someone who can, please send us a message immediately. Even sharing this post could be what saves her.

She has survived enough. Now she just needs someone to choose her. ❤️

Urgent foster needed for Pearl 🤞🏻

It’s hard to understand how a dog like Pearl could end up alone.

Pearl was found wandering along a county road in Florence, scared and left to fend for herself. We waited and hoped someone would come looking for her. No one ever did.

The heartbreaking part? Pearl is everything people say they want in a dog. She is incredibly well-mannered, already trained, gentle, and does wonderfully with other animals—even horses. She didn’t deserve to be abandoned, and she certainly doesn’t deserve to wonder why her family never came back.

Now all Pearl needs is one person willing to open their home to her for a little while.

We are urgently looking for a foster so she can get the veterinary care she needs and begin her journey toward finding the forever family she has always deserved. As a foster-based rescue, we can’t move forward without foster homes. The rescue covers all veterinary care and supplies—you simply provide a safe place, love, and patience.

Please don’t let Pearl feel forgotten again. She has already lost the only home she knew. Let’s show her that humans can still be kind and that her story doesn’t have to end the way it began.

If you can foster Pearl in the Central Texas area, please send us a message as soon as possible. Even if you can’t foster, sharing her story could be what helps her find the person she’s been waiting for.

Our recent posts have been filled with urgent pleas for fosters and donations (and to our amazing supporters who always step up to help—thank you from the bottom of our hearts! ❤️).

So, we thought we’d brighten everyone’s day with some adorable pictures of Morty! 🥰

Morty is a 10-week-old Standard Australian Shepherd, though easily mistaken for a bear cub, and we absolutely adore this little guy. We just couldn’t resist sharing his sweet face with all of you!

Please note: Morty is not available for adoption - he’s just here to spread a little happiness and remind everyone why we do what we do.

Sammy Needs His Forever Home - Today!

We can’t understand how this sweet boy is still waiting.

Sammy is almost 6 months old and has spent his entire life in rescue. He was born with us and has never known what it’s like to have a family of his own. It’s time for that to change.

Sammy is a Heeler/Chiweenie mix, but don’t let the Heeler part fool you, he’s a small little guy, about the size of a Dachshund, making him the perfect companion for someone looking for a smaller dog.

He is fully vetted, vaccinated, microchipped, and neutered. There is nothing left to do except take him home. When we say Sammy is ready to go home today, we truly mean it.

He’s a happy, loving puppy who enjoys playing, cuddling, and being with his people. He has so much love to give and deserves to spend the rest of his puppyhood making memories with a family instead of growing up in foster care.

If you’ve been thinking about adding a dog to your family, please give Sammy a chance. We know his perfect person is out there - we just need them to see him.

Please share this post and help us find Sammy the forever home he’s been waiting for.

Thank you to everyone who reached out, commented, and kept Scout in your thoughts.

We had X-rays done to make sure there were no internal injuries, and thankfully the doctor said her hip and leg look great. At this time, he believes she has a soft tissue injury, although a mild disc herniation is still a possibility.

For now, we’ll be continuing pain management over the next several days, and we’re hopeful she’ll be feeling much better soon. She’ll also be on strict crate rest while she heals. If you’ve ever met Scout, you know she’s either asleep or going 100 miles an hour, so keeping her calm is definitely going to be the biggest challenge!

We truly appreciate everyone’s concern, prayers, and positive thoughts for our sweet girl. We’re so relieved her injuries don’t appear to be more serious, and we’ll continue to keep everyone updated on her recovery. 🩷

Thank you Jarrell Animal Hospital for getting us in same day and making sure our girl was okay.

We use Dr. Tarlton for several of our rescue dogs and love how quick and caring he is all while being affordable. He also has a compounded allergy injection that works beautifully!

Scout is one of the very first dogs Lone Star Ditch Dog Rescue ever took in. Watching her journey from a rescued street dog to becoming such a loved member of our family has been incredibly special.

Scout fell out of a moving vehicle and is currently at the vet being evaluated. We’re praying that her injuries aren’t as serious as they could have been and that she’ll make a full recovery.

If you’ve followed our rescue from the beginning, you know Scout has always held a special place in our hearts. She’s truly one of the best dogs anyone could ask for, and we love her beyond words.

Please keep our sweet girl in your thoughts, prayers, or send all the positive vibes you can her way. We’re hoping for good news and will update everyone as soon as we know more.

We love you so much, Scout.
