A major winter storm is impacting large parts of the U.S. The National Association of State Fire Marshals (NASFM) urges everyone to take steps now to stay safe.

๐Ÿ”ฅ Keep space heaters at least 3 feet from anything that can burn
โš ๏ธ Never use ovens, grills, or generators to heat your home
๐Ÿšจ Make sure smoke alarms and CO alarms are working
๐Ÿ•ฏ๏ธ Avoid candlesโ€”use flashlights when possible
๐Ÿ”Œ Prepare for power outages with flashlights, batteries, and warm clothing
๐Ÿš— Avoid travel unless absolutely necessary

Cold weather increases the risk of fires and carbon monoxide poisoning. Preparation and safe choices save lives.

Stay warm. Stay informed. Stay safe.
