Representative Robyn Niayuq Frier
Today, the House Resources Committee moved out House Bill 381, the Governor’s gas line property tax bill. After 10 meetings and many hours of discussion, the bill now heads to the House Finance Committee. We have had thoughtful debate, hard conversations, and are moving important issues forward for Alaska.
As the only member of the House Resources Committee from the North Slope, I understand both the importance of responsible resource development and the need to continue working with industry to strengthen our state’s future. Just as importantly, impacted communities deserve a strong voice at the table throughout the process.
I am proud to represent the people of District 40 and will continue advocating for balanced solutions that support our communities, our economy, and Alaska’s future.
Today is National Day of Awareness for Missing and Murdered Indigenous Peoples, or MMIP Day. Yesterday during floor, I asked my colleagues to help show their support by wearing red in honor of those that have been lost to violence and injustice.

After days of debate, the House Coalition passed a bipartisan operating budget focused on the real needs facing Alaskans in both urban and rural communities.
It includes a $1,500 PFD, full funding for heating assistance and Power Cost Equalization, and investments in education, public safety, health care, and disaster response.
For families dealing with the high cost of everything, especially fuel and energy prices, this puts relief where it is needed most, providing direct support while also investing in the services we rely on every day.
The House Minority served notice of reconsideration so we will take our final vote tomorrow before it heads to the Senate for consideration.
