I enjoyed attending an event this afternoon in celebration of the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence. Six of us in attendance, including myself and Trustee Geoff Holton, were asked to read a portion of the Declaration to others in attendance - such a huge honor!

The Kansas Studies Institute at JCCC is hosting "Declaration 1776: The Big Bang of Modern Democracy", a traveling exhibition from The Gilder Lehrman Institute of American History, on display in the CoLab starting today through March 15.

Using compelling primary sources, the exhibition explores how the Declaration of Independence has inspired movements for equality and self-determination in the United States and around the world.

It also features a section titled Kansas 1776, which examines what life was like on the land that would eventually become the state of Kansas 250 years ago. All are welcome to visit this historical display.

Today, we broke ground on JCCC’s new driving range. Currently, we lease space in different areas and have a 96% graduation rate. Last year, over 600 drivers were trained. With the new range, JCCC will be able to enroll over 1000 drivers.
