Jackson Moves

The highs may not be in the 90s, but it’s still plenty hot out there… perfect weather for the splash pad!
If you haven’t yet visited the splash pad at the Jackson City Pool, it’s a great place to beat the heat. It’s also open from 8am and 8pm, so you can take in as much (or as little) sunshine as you like. And also completely free! Don’t forget to grab one ticket per person on your way out.
Did we run out of your T-shirt size last year? 👕
We were bummed about that, too, so we're going to ask a favor. If you've been exploring with us this summer, would you please please Facebook message us this week and let us know which specific youth and adult sizes you'd like us to order and how many for your crew? We hope this will help us make a more accurate shirt order. Thank you!
As a reminder, each participant still needs 3+ tickets to redeem a participant T-shirt at the end of July and T-shirts will be distributed on first-come, first-serve basis. More info coming soon on how to redeem your tickets!
Magnets for your fridge, or stickers for your water bottle?
Let us know in the comments! We're planning some bling 👀

In 2025, we had Jackson Moves participants of every age group... except one. 😢
We love teenagers, and we want to see them participating in Jackson Moves this year! There are still four great locations to check out, and of course it's more fun with friends! Share the following ideas with the teens in your life:
6/29-7/3: Beat the heat at Cape Girardeau County Historical Society! Maybe plan a visit before or after Friday's parade. As a plus, they've got air conditioning!
7/5-7/11: It's still blazing hot next week. Why not grab a few buddies and goof off at the Jackson Splash Pad?
7/12-7/18: Grab some friends and have a picnic at Old Bethel Church. There's plenty of room to throw a frisbee or a ball, too.
7/19-7/25: Check out the new fire station and say thank you to our town's wonderful first responders. Then why not stroll over for American Ice Cream afterwards?

The birthday festivities start today! Visit the Cape Girardeau County History Center between 10am and 4pm for a reverse scavenger hunt and DOUBLE TICKETS!
Wouldn't you love to bring a friend? You'll look great in your matching T-shirts at the end of the summer (available for anyone who has collected at least 3 tickets, and you'll be 2/3 of the way after visiting this week)!

You've probably heard, but there's a big birthday this week... and we're celebrating with double tickets! 😍
Starting Monday, beat the heat by visiting the Cape Girardeau County History Center in uptown Jackson (any day but Sunday from 10am-4pm). While there, you can complete a reverse scavenger hunt! Here's what to do:
1. Stroll around the exhibits.
2. Find an object or artifact that you like.
3. Ask one of the volunteers to tell you more about it.
On your way out, collect a double ticket from the ticket tin! They're stapled together, so should be easy to grab one per participant and add to your stash.
Birthdays are more fun with company, and this is the perfect week to invite friends to join you! Anyone with at least 3 tickets can redeem them for a Jackson Moves T-shirt, and all tickets can be entered for our prize drawing at the end of the summer. Help us spread the word!

Happy Father’s Day! Celebrate the father figure(s) in your life with a hike!
This week’s location is one of our two lesser-known locations… but you probably pass it all the time! Klaus Park is located south of Jackson Boulevard before crossing under I-55 heading toward Cape. It’s ideal for hiking, mountain biking, and trail running.
You won’t need to lace up your boots to get a ticket- the tin is located by the park sign- but we’d encourage you to follow the dirt trail and explore. Start going right/north and see if you can find the view below (located 0.25 miles along the trail), then post your pictures in the comments below! Feel free to also share pictures of the treasures you find along the way.

Happy Flag Day! Did you know the Missouri state flag was designed by Marie Watkins Oliver, who lived in this week’s featured location?
Step back in time and make your way to the Oliver House! When you arrive, the ticket tin is located on the front porch facing Adams Street. Visit whenever works best for your crew and pick up a ticket per person and a coloring sheet!

Good news! If you can’t visit Iron Mountain during the day, you have one more chance to get an evening tour. Drop in this Saturday between 5-7pm (tours will be available until the train leaves at 6:15, then you’ll need to visit the depot). The ticket tin will also be located outside the depot on Thursday and Friday evening for those who are not able to make it on Saturday.
Thanks to the wonderful volunteers at Iron Mountain Railway for making this possible.
