Westview grad Garrett Sams has been named as an assistant coach to the UT Martin Men’s Basketball program.

Sams a Martin native was a grad assistant at UTM in the 2021-2022 season. He spent two seasons in the NBA as a player development video coordinator with the Grizzlies.

Sams played college ball at the University of North Florida. He is the teams 3rd leading scorer and led the team to the 2019-2020 ASUN co-regular season championship.

After college, Sams played 2 seasons in the German Pro A League.

Sams was a four-year standout at Westview, helping lead the Chargers to their first TSSAA State Appearance.
