🐾 Meet Crystal. 💙🩵

Crystal was named for her beautiful blue eyes, which were so severely damaged by illness that she was left partially blind.

She and her two siblings were found wandering alone in Detert Park sick, suffering, and fighting to survive. At one point, we believed Crystal would need to have an eye removed. After extensive treatment, medications, eye compresses, and daily care, we're hopeful she may be able to keep both eyes.

Crystal's story is heartbreaking but unfortunately, it's not unique.

This is why Trap-Neuter-Return (TNR) is so important.

When unaltered feral cats continue to reproduce, kittens are often born into difficult conditions where disease, injury, starvation, and suffering are common. Many never get the chance that Crystal did. 💔

The good news? These tragedies can be prevented.

If you are feeding community or feral cats or know someone who is, please help stop the cycle by getting them spayed or neutered. In Amador County, TNR services are available at no cost through A-PAL Humane Society.

Every cat fixed means fewer kittens born into suffering and a healthier future for cats already living in our community.
