The Prayer Line Connection

Reference Luke 18:7-8

God is not unwilling to answer our prayers, but he does want us to learn to depend on him more and to take an active role in his plans. As we spend time with him in prayer, we get to know him better and we begin to line up our lives and desires with his purposes. That will be most important in the difficult days ahead; but when Jesus returns for those “who cry out to him day and night” (v. 7), he will put an end to the distress and suffering they witnessed and endured in a wicked and hostile world. At that time, he will take them to be with him (Jn 14:2-3, notes). When Christ comes, his faithful followers will be “caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air” (1Th 4:17; see article on THE RAPTURE). Then God will administer his justice and judgment on the wicked (1Th 5:2-3, 9). Ultimately, Christ will return to earth with his followers and reign with perfect justice (see Rev 19–20). Christ’s coming is the only real hope for his people and for this world (cf. Jn 14:2; 1Th 5:2-3; 2Th 2:8; Rev 19:11-21).

Insight:
The apostle Paul reminds believers that serving Christ often comes with sacrifice, opposition, and misunderstanding. The apostles were not honored by the world; instead, they endured hardship, persecution, and suffering for the sake of the gospel. Yet their lives were a testimony before the world, before angels, and before humanity. Faithfulness to Christ is not measured by earthly comfort or recognition, but by steadfast obedience to His calling.
Application:
As followers of Christ, we should not be discouraged when living for Him brings trials or criticism. Our lives are a witness to others. Let us remain faithful, humble, and committed to Christ, knowing that our reward is with Him and that our endurance brings glory to God.
